《雪人兄弟》（Snow Bros. - Nick & Tom）是東亞企劃（Toaplan）於1990年推出的街機固定畫面動作遊戲。雖然東亞企劃以射擊遊戲聞名，但《雪人兄弟》以可愛的角色、輕鬆的關卡節奏與爽快的連鎖系統，展現與公司過去作品完全不同的風格。後來被移植到多種家用平台，在韓國更累積極高人氣，甚至催生出當地版本的重製作。2023年，繼承Toaplan版權的TATSUJIN宣佈推出3D重製版《雪人兄弟：奇幻樂園》，於PS4、PS5與Switch發售；官方續作《Snow Bros. 2》則在1994年登場，並於2023年推出重製版《雪人兄弟2 特別版》。

故事描繪兩位雪人兄弟「尼克與湯姆」為了拯救被綁架的雪之女王而踏上旅程。整個冒險皆以單一畫面呈現，畫面不捲動，而是透過在每一關清除所有敵人後直接切換至下一關。在五個主題世界中，雪人兄弟必須使用自己的力量將敵人包裹成雪球，再將其滾動、撞擊牆壁或讓其連鎖滾動，以清除整個畫面。當玩家打倒每一個區域的最終頭目後，就能前往下一個世界，最終突破全50關的關卡結構。

不同於許多動作遊戲的暴力表現，以溫和、可愛的方式呈現所有戰鬥。敵人被冰凍後變成雪球，滾動時會撞飛其他敵人，形成連鎖爽快感，形成了遊戲風格獨特的魅力。

玩家分別操控尼克或湯姆，也可以兩人同時遊玩。角色可以左右移動、跳躍，並能發射雪彈攻擊敵人。對敵人連續噴雪後，敵人會逐漸被包覆，直到完全變成雪球。此時玩家可以將雪球踢出，使其在地圖中反彈，並撞擊到其他敵人。這種反彈連鎖常常能讓整個畫面瞬間清空，帶來極高的爽快感。

如果能用單一個雪球清除全場敵人，天空會降下象徵「大獎」的綠色鈔票，價值高達一萬分，極具成就感。擊倒敵人後常會掉落藥水，提供移動速度增強、射程提升、攻擊力增加甚至變身巨大化並暫時無敵等能力，使關卡更加刺激。每十關會登場一位頭目，需要用雪球多次攻擊才能擊敗。若在關卡內停留太久，遊戲會生成無法擊殺的南瓜頭怪物。這個怪物會使遊戲節奏變得緊張，甚至還會召喚幽靈追擊玩家，迫使玩家迅速清除剩餘敵人。

雖然大部分玩家只看到尼克與湯姆作為雪人冒險，但在NES版本的結局中揭露，他們其實是被詛咒變成雪人的王子。拯救女王的旅程，也是解除詛咒、恢復人類身分的過程，讓遊戲的背景故事多了一層童話般的神祕感。推出後因其簡單易懂、極具成癮性的連鎖滾雪球系統而大受歡迎，在街機廳形成強烈吸引力。它與《泡泡龍》有相似的固定畫面清關形式，但《雪人兄弟》利用滾動、反彈與連鎖擊倒敵人的設計，使其在同類作品中脫穎而出。角色的可愛設計、鮮明的色彩與輕快的音效，也讓這款遊戲在兒童玩家與家庭市場中特別受歡迎。

Snow Bros. – Nick & Tom is a fixed-screen action arcade game released in 1990 by Toaplan. Although Toaplan was best known for its shooting games, Snow Bros. presented a completely different creative direction, featuring cute character designs, a relaxed pace, and a uniquely satisfying chain-reaction system. The game was later ported to numerous home consoles and achieved remarkable popularity in South Korea, where it even inspired locally produced remakes. In 2023, TATSUJIN—the company that inherited Toaplan’s intellectual properties—released a fully modernized 3D remake titled Snow Bros. Wonderland for PS4, PS5, and Nintendo Switch. The official sequel Snow Bros. 2 originally debuted in 1994 and received a modern remake in 2023 as Snow Bros. 2 Special.

The story follows the two snowmen brothers, Nick and Tom, as they embark on a journey to rescue the kidnapped Snow Queen. The entire adventure takes place on single-screen stages without scrolling, progressing by clearing all enemies in each level before moving on to the next one. Across five thematic worlds, the snowmen must use their powers to encase enemies in snow, roll them into snowballs, and send them ricocheting around the stage to wipe out other foes. Each world concludes with a boss fight, and the players must conquer a total of fifty stages to complete the game.

Unlike many action titles that rely on overt violence, Snow Bros. adopts a charming, non-threatening approach to combat. Enemies become snowballs when frozen, and rolling these snowballs sends them bouncing across the stage, knocking out additional enemies and creating delightful chain reactions. This mechanic became one of the game’s signature traits, giving it a distinct personality among its arcade contemporaries.

Players control Nick or Tom, either solo or cooperatively. Characters can move horizontally, jump, and shoot snow to trap enemies. When enough snow is applied, an enemy becomes a snowball that can be kicked across the stage. A single snowball can clear an entire screen if it hits enemies in sequence, and achieving such a full-chain clear rewards players with a special green bill worth ten thousand points, serving as a badge of skill. Defeated enemies frequently drop potions that enhance speed, increase shot range, boost attack power, or even transform the player into a giant temporary powerhouse, adding excitement and strategic variety.

Every ten levels, a boss appears and must be defeated by repeatedly striking it with snowballs. If players linger too long in a stage, an invincible pumpkin monster materializes, disrupting the pace and summoning ghosts to chase the players, forcing them to finish the level quickly and keeping the tension high.

While the arcade version presents Nick and Tom simply as snowmen, the Famicom (NES) version reveals in its ending that the brothers are actually princes who were transformed by a curse. Their quest to rescue the Snow Queen is also the journey to lift that curse, adding a fairy-tale layer of mystery to the game’s world.

Upon release, Snow Bros. became widely popular for its accessible gameplay and addictively satisfying chain-reaction snowball mechanic. Its fixed-screen clear-stage format drew comparisons to Bubble Bobble, yet the rolling and ricocheting snowball system allowed Snow Bros. to carve out its own identity. The vibrant color palette, lively animations, and adorable character designs made it especially appealing to younger audiences and family players. The game’s numerous ports—ranging from Mega Drive to Famicom, Game Boy, and beyond—demonstrate its enduring market value. In particular, the game enjoyed an unusually strong following in South Korea, leading to several unofficial and official adaptations unique to that region.
