Based on Capcom’s arcade game Top Secret, this Famicom version expanded into a home-console masterpiece, incorporating large-scale map exploration and character progression, making it a quintessential example of early “exploration-based action” games.

 

The game’s most striking design choice is the complete removal of the jump function—a staple in action games. Instead of jumping, the protagonist Rad Spencer uses his left Bionic Arm, a retractable grappling arm, to navigate the environment.
